Amnesty Boss Warns Scholarship Beneficiaries

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr Dennis Otuaro, has cautioned beneficiaries of the programme’s postgraduate foreign scholarships against abusing the opportunity.

He issued the warning during the orientation for the third batch of beneficiaries, comprising over 140 students who were sent to universities in the United Kingdom for postgraduate studies.

Dr Otuaro reminded the scholars that the programme was designed to build human capacity in the Niger Delta and urged them to focus on their studies, remain disciplined, and return with knowledge that will benefit their communities.

As part of the support package, each student received a brand-new laptop to aid their learning and research abroad, similar to the previous two batches.

The warning comes as PAP intensifies efforts to ensure accountability and value for money in its scholarship scheme, which is one of the central pillars of empowerment in the post-amnesty initiative.
