Afe Babalola, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Founder of Afe Babalola University, has declared indiscipline as Nigeria’s biggest challenge. He remarked on Ado Ekiti after receiving a fellowship award from the Nigerian Academy of Education, a body comprising 21 professors.
The Academy, in a letter signed by its Secretary-General, Prof. Elizabeth Okeke, stated that Babalola was selected for his exceptional contributions to education and humanity.
Speaking after the decoration, Babalola urged Nigerians, especially young people, to uphold strong moral values. He said his achievements were driven by discipline, hard work and focus, warning that a lack of discipline breeds corruption and undermines national progress.
Babalola said the fellowship renewed his commitment to supporting education and society. He reiterated that ABUAD would remain a non-profit, high-quality institution where all revenue is reinvested for development.
He noted that the university is financially stable, debt-free, and continues to attract strong enrollment from within and outside Nigeria, including students from China, the United States, and Pakistan. He added that ABUAD plans to introduce scholarships for international students.
Babalola dedicated the award to the collective discipline and commitment of the university’s staff and students.
