UI Don Highlights Alumni Role in University Development

Prof. Adebimpe Adenugba, Head of the Department of Sociology, UI

A University of Ibadan professor, Adebimpe Adenugba, has emphasised the critical role alumni play in funding and improving infrastructure in Nigerian universities.

Adenugba, Head of the Department of Sociology, stated this while receiving solar inverter batteries donated by the Department’s Class of 1995. She noted that government grants are insufficient to meet current institutional needs and urged stakeholders, especially alumni, to support their alma maters.

She said the 1995 set had consistently assisted the department and encouraged other graduating sets to follow their example.

Also speaking, Prof Adeyinka Aderinto commended the Class of 1995 for their continued contributions, including past donations. He said alumni support had helped the university cope with funding gaps.

A representative of the class, Babajide, said the donation marked their 30th anniversary of graduation and was motivated by gratitude to the institution that had shaped their careers.
