Babcock University, located in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has dismissed allegations of negligence in the case of Oladipupo Siwajuola, a student recently reported missing by his mother, Fijabi Oyindamola Omotayo.
The University clarified that Siwajuola left the school without following proper protocols or obtaining the necessary clearance from the institution.
In a statement released by Joshua Suleiman, Director of Communication and Public Relations, Babcock University criticised Siwajuola’s mother for publicly accusing the institution of negligence on social media.
Suleiman explained that while the University has been collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force, other security agencies, and concerned individuals to locate Siwajuola, his mother had been spreading unfounded claims online.
Suleiman also mentioned that Siwajuola was found hiding in Akute, Ifo Local Council of Ogun State. However, the University had not received any official confirmation from the police at the time of the statement.
He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to student safety, stating that Babcock University has stringent protocols in place for student welfare, campus security, and hall monitoring, which are continually updated to address new challenges.
The statement further condemned the actions of Siwajuola’s mother, labelling her use of social media as “reckless” and accusing her of attempting to incite public unrest and harm the University’s reputation.
Babcock University warned that it might pursue legal action if the false accusations continue to damage its image.
