Bingham University has reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, research, and sustainable development as it celebrates 20 years of academic excellence.
Speaking at the 3rd Postgraduate Workshop, themed “Innovative Research for Sustainable Development,” Professor Haruna Ayuba, the Vice Chancellor of the university, highlighted the university’s growth since its establishment in 2005, now offering 48 undergraduate and 59 postgraduate programmes across 16 faculties and 54 departments.
He said the workshop aimed to equip students and researchers with the tools for impactful, interdisciplinary research that addresses societal, environmental, and economic challenges. Participants were encouraged to develop solutions aligned with national priorities and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Ayuba also criticised the wrong practices occurring in postgraduate research, such as harassment and exploitation by supervisors, and urged students always to report such misconduct. He stressed that the university is committed to raising innovative thinkers who will bring real positive change to society and make valuable contributions to global development.
