A team from the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) visited Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) on Tuesday to discuss potential collaborations in agricultural development and the productive use of the University’s expansive lands in Kieseni, Offa-Meta, and Osoogun.
Led by Canon Dr Famuyiwa, the delegation included the Head of Cashew Research, Dr Adeniyi; Agronomist Dr Adejobi; and Mrs Adeniran from the Value Addition Department. They were received by ACU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole and senior university officials.
Prof. Oduwole said the visit aimed to involve CRIN in the University’s forthcoming 17th Convocation exhibition and to explore a formal partnership to expand agricultural ventures across ACU’s campuses. “We are exploring ways to grow our agricultural initiatives. This collaboration is about what we can achieve together,” he said.
Canon Dr Famuyiwa praised the Vice-Chancellor’s vision, highlighting successful CRIN collaborations with other universities, and noted that a partnership with ACU could boost agricultural innovation and attract more students to study agriculture. Dr Adeniyi added that Osoogun’s soil is particularly suitable for cashew cultivation, offering opportunities to develop new cashew varieties in Nigeria.
The meeting marks a step towards leveraging ACU’s lands for research, innovation, and agribusiness development.
