Czech Republic Opens 2026/27 Scholarship Applications to Nigerians

The Czech Republic has opened applications for its fully funded government scholarship programme for the 2026/27 academic year.

The scheme is available to citizens of Nigeria and 11 other developing countries, including Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zambia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus (democratic forces), Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Jordan and Guatemala. The programme, part of the Czech government’s foreign development cooperation strategy, offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral studies at public universities in Czech or English.

Monthly stipends are CZK 16,000 (£550) for Bachelor’s and Master’s students, and CZK 17,000 (£580) for Doctoral students. Tuition, accommodation and health insurance are included, but students must cover their travel costs. Programmes taught in Czech include a one-year preparatory course and selected degrees for specific countries. English-language Master’s and Doctoral programmes are open to all eligible applicants. Candidates must meet academic requirements for their chosen level of study and pass entrance examinations. Applications are online and close on 30 September 2025. Since the late 1950s, more than 20,000 foreign nationals have studied in the Czech Republic under this scheme.
