The David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences (DUFUHS), Uburu, has convened a state-wide research summit aimed at strengthening collaboration among universities in Ebonyi State and improving access to TETFund’s National Research Fund.
The one-day forum brought together principal officers, provosts, deans and research directors from tertiary institutions across the state to explore ways to align research outputs with policy needs.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Jesse Uneke said the summit was designed to create a unified research culture and foster partnerships that deliver measurable impact.
He stressed that universities cannot thrive in silos and must combine resources to attract significant research grants and generate evidence capable of shaping national policy. He added that the summit would now be held annually to sustain momentum.
Guest speakers included former vice chancellors Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba and Prof. Akanerem Essien, as well as Dr Kamil Shoretire from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Development. They emphasised the importance of coordinated research efforts, strengthened institutional linkages, and enhanced access to TETFund resources as key drivers of national development.
