Dr Abubakar Adamu Dabban, the Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), has stated that the federal government (FG) is prepared to tackle the issues faced by agricultural research institutes and federal colleges of agriculture in the country.
While on a visit to the Federal College of Freshwater Fisheries Technology and the Lake Chad Research Institute, Maiduguri, Dabban said, “We must strengthen research, training, and extension to fast-track innovation, boost productivity, and help Nigeria achieve the SDGs by 2030.”
Responding, Prof Modu Bako, the federal college provost, implored the executive secretary to reintroduce the Education Trust Fund (ETF) and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to provide agricultural institutes with the assistance needed.
