Students of the Institute of Part-Time Studies (IPTS) at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) have honoured the Vice Chancellor, Prof Abayomi Sunday Fasina, with a Recognition Award of Excellence for his outstanding leadership and commitment to inclusive education.
The presentation, held on Tuesday, 2025, at the Vice Chancellor’s office, coincided with Prof Fasina’s return from a six-month research leave. The delegation was led by the outgoing President of the institute’s student association, Comrade Omotosho Ayomide, and his successor, Comrade Oladipo Afolabi.
Comrade Omotosho described the Vice-Chancellor as a visionary leader who has enhanced academic stability and improved student opportunities, particularly through the part-time programme. He said the award reflected the students’ appreciation for the Vice-Chancellor’s efforts in expanding access to higher education.
Comrade Afolabi praised the university’s commitment to maintaining uninterrupted academic sessions, noting that FUOYE’s part-time programme ranks among the most credible in Nigeria.
The students appealed for faster release of final-year results and NYSC inclusion for part-time graduates, pledging continued support for the university’s vision of excellence and inclusivity.
