The Directorate of General Studies (GST) at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has honoured outstanding students who excelled in various GST courses for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The ceremony, held at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, celebrated hard work and encouraged academic excellence among students.
Deputy Director of the Directorate, Dr Odedokun Adeyemi, who represented the Director, Dr Loretta Ntoimo, said the initiative was designed to inspire students to pursue excellence. He commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Abayomi Fasina, for approving the programme and the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Olubunmi Shittu, for his continued support and manpower contributions to the Directorate.
Award recipients included Awolusi Isaac Ayobami (Best in Use of Library and ICT), Ndareke Gloria Oluwatosin and Owoeye Samuel Abiodun (Best in Philosophy, Logic, and Human Existence), and Bolarinwa Human Ademola (Best in People and Culture of Nigeria).
Presenting the awards, Shittu applauded the initiative, describing it as a powerful tool for motivating students. “Rewarding excellence sends a clear message that hard work pays,” he said.
The event drew top university officials, including the Registrar, University Librarian, and Faculty Deans, who joined in celebrating the honourees.
