Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has offered automatic employment to the best-graduating student of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, and awarded foreign scholarships to nine other first-class graduates.
This announcement was made during the university’s 5th combined convocation ceremony held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Convocation Arena in Wudil.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the university’s infrastructure and academic standards in his address.
He disclosed that the state government had approved an additional 100 hectares for the university’s expansion, focusing on developing physical infrastructure, laboratories, lecture halls, student hostels, internal road networks, drainage systems, and providing buses to ease transportation for students and staff.
The governor also congratulated the graduating students, urging them to view their achievements as the beginning of their service to humanity and the nation.
He commended the university’s founder and former governor of the state, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, for establishing the institution in 2001, describing it as a symbol of excellence and a citadel of learning for both Kano State and Nigeria.
During the ceremony, ADUSTECH conferred honorary doctorate degrees on five eminent Nigerians, including Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal, Prince Arthur Ikpechuku Eze, Dr. Ahmed Adeniyu Raji (SAN), and Alhaji Mustapha Ado Muhammad.
The university also formally invested Alhaji Aliko Dangote as its Chancellor.
In his remarks, Alhaji Dangote pledged continued support for the university, announcing plans for a five-year development project worth N15 billion.
The project will focus on constructing students’ hostels, a modern engineering laboratory, a world-class computer laboratory with uninterrupted internet service, a mini-solar plant, a befitting Senate Building, and employment opportunities for the university’s best graduates.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Shehu Alhaji Musa, spoke on the achievements recorded during his tenure, including course accreditation, introduction of new courses, staff training, and research advancements.
On behalf of the honorary degree recipients, Senator Kwankwaso expressed gratitude to the university’s management for the recognition.
He recalled the establishment of the then Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil, in 2001, which was later renamed Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, and expressed joy that the institution’s mission and vision have been realised.
