Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State signs the bill establishing Gaya Polytechnic into law
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has signed the bill establishing Gaya Polytechnic into law. The signing took place at the Government House, in the presence of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore and the Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bello Butubutu.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor commended the Assembly for its commitment to strengthening Kano’s educational framework.
He stated that the new polytechnic would provide pathways for young people to acquire the technical and vocational skills essential for the state’s economic development.
The governor reassured his administration’s commitment to expanding educational access and modernising institutions across all levels, describing the polytechnic as a strategic investment in human capital.
According to the statement, the establishment aligns with the government’s broader plan to boost local economies across senatorial zones through skill-focused training.
Dawakin Tofa noted that once fully operational, Gaya Polytechnic is expected to support job creation, drive innovation, and advance socio-economic growth in Gaya and neighbouring communities.
