Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State has reportedly announced that his administration has recruited over 8,000 teachers within the past three years.
He made this known during a live broadcast on Monday, April 28, at the Governor’s Lodge, Anambra, as part of activities marking his third year in office.
According to Soludo, the recruitment drive is part of efforts to strengthen basic education in Anambra and address long-standing issues like infrastructural decay, poor teaching quality, and limited access to education.
He said the initiative is already yielding visible results across the state.
The Governor added that since September 2023, public school students in Anambra have been enjoying free education. This move has relieved parents of financial stress and significantly reduced the number of out-of-school children.
He also added that the education reforms go beyond numbers, noting that his vision is to turn Anambra into a centre for market-driven education and a tourism hub.
