Two weeks into the new academic session, public senior secondary schools in Ilorin metropolis have yet to begin admitting new Senior Secondary School One (SS1) students, despite the release of Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.
At Government Day Secondary School, Adewole, a staff member confirmed that registration would commence only after a scheduled staff meeting later this week.
Similarly, the Vice Principal of Ansarul Islam Secondary School stated that no admission process had begun, as staff were still determining the intake requirements.
Meanwhile, according to the state’s academic calendar, the first Continuous Assessment (CA) is scheduled for October 13–17, in the fifth week of the academic year.
Stakeholders fear that further delays in SS1 registration could make it difficult for new students to catch up academically.
