The Imo State Governor and Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, has called on the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to intensify investigations into the suspected hacking of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) website.
Governor Uzodimma made the call in a statement on Saturday, in which he commended the security agencies for the recent arrests of suspects linked to the incident.
Reacting to the arrests through a statement issued on his behalf by the State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba, Uzodimma, described the arrests as timely and necessary.
He stressed that the action was crucial not only to identify the root cause of the problem but also to ease the tensions that had arisen nationally due to the crisis.
The Governor urged the security agencies to expedite their investigations to uncover all individuals responsible for the hacking of the JAMB website.
He expressed the view that swift investigations and the subsequent arraignment of the suspects would serve as a deterrent to future offenders.
Describing the JAMB hacking incident as a national embarrassment, Uzodimma emphasised the need for immediate resolution.
He also commended the JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, for his dedication and integrity in safeguarding the reputation and sanctity of the examination body.
