Intelsat Launches 2025 Space STEM Programme to Empower African Schools

Intelsat has partnered with MaxIQ Space to launch the fifth edition of the Africa Space STEM Programme, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming education across Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa.

This fully funded programme invites schools and teachers to apply for the opportunity to receive cutting-edge STEM kits, hands-on training, and access to exclusive resources that integrate space science, sustainability, and Internet of Things (IoT) education into their classrooms.

Since its inception in 2020, the Intelsat Africa Space STEM Programme has made great strides in engaging students with space exploration, satellite technology, and STEM education.

The 2025 programme focuses on empowering both schools and educators, enabling them to create long-lasting impacts on Africa’s education systems.

This initiative is designed to equip students with the skills to excel in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Schools participating will receive MaxIQ Space STEM Kits, Advanced Sensor Add-on Kits, and digital learning materials designed to enrich STEM curricula.

 Teachers will also benefit from professional development, accessing training sessions led by engineers and space industry professionals.

Additionally, they will receive support through a custom Learning Management System (LMS), complete with lesson plans, interactive content, and mentorship.

The programme offers students exciting hands-on learning experiences, including Earth observation, climate science, and IoT applications.

Students will also compete in global challenges during World Space Week, where they can work on projects related to climate action, renewable energy, and smart cities.

Not only will participants earn certificates of completion, but they will also gain exposure to the global space industry through mentorship from engineers and STEM professionals.
