President Bola Tinubu has reassured his administration’s commitment to strengthening institutions, driving reforms and promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
Speaking at the 55th Annual Accountants Conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in Abuja, Tinubu, represented by Accountant-General Shamsedeen Ogujimi, said Nigerians remain the nation’s greatest asset and have shown resilience in the face of global and domestic disruptions.
He emphasised that resilience requires adaptable systems and sustainable practices that can thrive under uncertainty. “Resilience must be viewed as a strategic necessity, not just a concept,” Tinubu said, noting that economic instability, insecurity, and structural weaknesses have repeatedly tested Nigeria’s capacity to recover.
The President commended ICAN for its contributions to national development and urged accountants to uphold integrity, professionalism, and transparency in financial management. He also highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at diversifying the economy, enhancing human capital and strengthening governance through accountability and innovation.
Meanwhile, ICAN President, Mallam Haruna Nma Yahaya, stressed the urgency of building stronger institutions to convert Nigeria’s potential into tangible progress, citing recent fiscal reforms as steps toward economic stability despite short-term hardship.
