The Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPs), Lagos State Chapter, has marked the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child by mentoring students of Keke High School, Ifako-Agege, on leadership, confidence, and community impact.
The event, themed “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontline of Crisis,” encouraged girls to become proactive leaders and agents of change in society.
Speaking at the event, Dr Funmi Ige, President of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (Lagos branch), urged the students to embrace leadership roles and stay committed to education, describing it as the most powerful tool for empowerment.
In her remarks, Pharm. (Mrs.) Yewande Olorunsola, Lagos ALPs Chair, called on the government to intensify policies that protect the welfare and education of girls, stressing that investing in the girl-child strengthens the foundation of an equitable society.
Other speakers, including Pharm. (Mrs.) Modupe Alli and Pharm. (Mrs.) Olufunmilayo Agbeniyi emphasised the importance of mentorship and gender-responsive policies to help girls overcome social and economic barriers.
They urged the government to prioritise education, healthcare and protection initiatives that empower girls to thrive and lead.
