The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that a total of 2,030,627 candidates registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), marking the highest number in the history of the examination.
Of the registered candidates, 1,635,517 sat for the examination, while 399,886 were absent.
The examination was conducted nationwide across various Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, maintaining transparency and accessibility in Nigeria’s tertiary admission system.
In a significant move towards inclusive education, JAMB facilitated the participation of 501 visually impaired candidates in the 2025 UTME.
These candidates took the nationwide examination at 11 designated centres on April 28 and 29.
This was part of the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG), established in 2017 to ensure that candidates with disabilities have equal access to tertiary education opportunities.
The JEOG, chaired by Emeritus Professor Peter Okebukola, provided necessary support and accommodations for the visually impaired candidates, including typewriters, braille machines, and trained personnel to assist during the examination.
The candidates took the same test papers as their sighted counterparts, ensuring that standards were not compromised. The 2025 UTME results are expected to be released after the completion of post-examination analyses.
