Kaduna State University has taken a step towards improving the quality of its administrative services by inaugurating a new chapter of the Chartered Institute of Professional Secretarial Staff of Nigeria (CIPSSON).
The institute’s management visited the Kaduna campus to formally launch the chapter, a development staff say will give secretarial workers a more straightforward path to training, recognition and career growth.
CIPSSON, created by federal legislation, sets and regulates professional standards for secretarial practice across Nigeria. Its officials said the new chapter would help bring greater structure and support to a cadre of workers often overlooked despite their central role in the daily running of public institutions.
University administrators welcomed the move, noting that better-trained secretarial staff can improve the quality and speed of services students and academics rely on. Several staff members described the inauguration as long overdue, saying it offers them the chance to update their skills and work under clearer professional guidelines.
The chapter is expected to organise workshops, promote ethical conduct and strengthen administrative practices across the university. Officials said the goal is a more efficient secretariat and a workplace where support staff feel valued and equipped for modern demands.
