The Governing Council of Kaduna State University (KASU) has approved the establishment of 20 new development centres to strengthen research, innovation, and community service.
According to a statement by the university’s Corporate Services Director, Hamza Musa Makarfi, the decision was announced after the council’s quarterly meeting, chaired by Pro-Chancellor Dr Husaini Adamu Dikko.
Dikko explained that the centres would tackle critical societal needs, starting with Kaduna State and extending their impact across Nigeria.
Some of the centres include the Centre for Renewable Energy Research, the Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the Centre for Public Policy and Governance, the Centre for Agricultural Development, and the Centre for Digital Learning and ICT Advancement.
The council stated that the move reflects KASU’s commitment to utilising research and innovation as tools for addressing pressing challenges, while also promoting sustainable development and enhancing the university’s societal relevance.
