The Tutor-General and Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Education District III, Dr Idowu Olufunke Oyetola, has urged school principals to uphold discipline, professionalism and renewed dedication as schools prepare to resume for a new term.
Speaking at a pre-resumption meeting with principals in St George’s Primary School, Lagos, Dr Oyetola stressed the importance of personal presentation, workplace culture and readiness of schools for learning. She reminded principals that their offices often create first impressions for visitors, including NGOs and private organisations, and urged them to maintain clean and professional environments.
She also highlighted the poor participation of students from the district in state competitions and directed principals to provide teachers with the necessary resources and support to prepare their pupils better. “Students must be adequately trained to represent the district,” she said.
Dr Oyetola further advised principals to prioritise their health and ensure that school environments are well-maintained ahead of resumption.
The meeting, which brought together heads of schools across the district, ended with principals pledging to improve standards in teaching, extracurricular activities and learning outcomes.
