In a fresh move to raise education standards, the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education held a strategic meeting on Thursday with the Principals of all 330 Senior Secondary Schools across the state.
The meeting in Lagos aimed to strengthen collaboration and find lasting solutions to secondary schools’ key challenges, particularly in discipline, academic performance, and coordination between school leadership and stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Jamiu Alli-Balogun, described the gathering as part of the state government’s ongoing commitment to improve the quality of public education and ensure policies are effectively implemented at the grassroots.
He noted that school Principals play a crucial role in shaping students’ academic journey and must work closely with the Ministry to achieve set goals.
The interactive session allowed Principals to share their experiences and suggestions on how to improve standards across the state’s senior schools.
Discussions also covered innovative teaching methods, effective monitoring of students’ welfare, and ways to foster better relationships between schools and their host communities.
Alli-Balogun assured participants that the government would continue providing necessary support and resources to empower schools and maintain discipline while improving learning outcomes.
The meeting is part of the Lagos government’s broader agenda to reposition the education sector and equip students with the skills needed for success in today’s fast-changing world.
