In a bid to boost education in Lagos, the State Government has unveiled a new Digital Teaching Hub, which will improve digital technology education in public schools.
The multimillion-dollar hub, located at the Education Resource Centre in Ojodu, was launched in partnership with WALURE, a technology company. The resource centre is expected to provide modern digital learning tools for both teachers and students.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs Tolani Alli-Balogun, spoke during a tour of the facility with journalists on Wednesday. She called the hub a “transformative tool” that will help raise the quality of teaching and learning in Lagos public schools.
“This is more than just a building. It is a platform where students and teachers can interact directly,” Alli-Balogun said. “The hub also offers opportunities for teacher training, mentorship, and timely subject learning.”
The hub supports both live-streaming and pre-recorded lessons, which can be accessed online and through social media platforms such as Instagram. This means that learning can reach more students beyond the classroom walls.
“All education is about preparing for the future, and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is the vehicle taking us there,” the commissioner added. “With this hub, students will enjoy real-life learning experiences, access quality digital content, and interact one-on-one with their teachers.”
Mrs Alli-Balogun also assured that the Lagos State Government is committed to maintaining and expanding the project.
WALURE’s General Manager, Mr Obafemi Okunbanjo, described the Digital Teaching Hub as a good example of a public-private partnership working well to improve education.
“This project bridges the gap between traditional teaching methods and the digital age,” Okunbanjo said. “It will make a real difference for teachers and students and help improve examination results.”
The Lagos Digital Teaching Hub is part of the state’s broader efforts to modernise education and prepare students for a fast-changing world.
With access to new technology and innovative teaching methods, Lagos public schools are well-positioned to provide enhanced learning opportunities for all students.
