The Zamfara Education Forum (ZEF) has praised former Governor and current Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, for improving education in the state despite limited funds. According to a statement by the Forum’s chairman, Yusuf Ibrahim Maradun, Matawalle used the 2017/2018 intervention grant to build 900 new classrooms across Zamfara in just two years.
He also renovated 375 old classrooms and fixed three Local Government Education Authority offices. Maradun said the former governor achieved all this with less money than the current administration receives. He described Matawalle’s efforts as a clear example of good leadership and commitment. The Forum stated that Matawalle’s actions have brought about significant change to Zamfara’s education sector and called on other leaders to learn from his example. They encouraged the government to continue building on the strong foundation Matawalle laid for the benefit of students in the state.
