The Minister of State for Education, Prof Suwaiba Said Ahmad, has described the National Library as Nigeria’s apex repository of knowledge and an irreplaceable guardian of the nation’s intellectual heritage.
Ahmad remarked in a post on her official X account after joining First Lady Oluremi Tinubu at a press briefing on the library project.
She commended the First Lady’s commitment to education, women’s empowerment, and the revival of reading culture, noting that her dedication makes her a role model for Nigerian women and future generations.
“The First Lady dedicating her birthday to the National Library reminds us of the institution’s vital role as a hub for research, learning, and culture, and a beacon for reviving our reading culture,” Ahmad wrote.
Senator Tinubu, marking her 65th birthday on September 21, had appealed for donations toward the completion of the long-delayed National Library through the “Oluremi at 65 Education Fund,” coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education.
She urged well-wishers to channel greetings and gifts into contributions, describing the project as a cause close to her heart. “The completion of the National Library will be a great birthday gift for me,” the First Lady said.
