The Ministry of Defence has embedded environmental sustainability into the curriculum of all Armed Forces Primary and Secondary Schools in Nigeria to improve climate responsibility and reform youth education.
Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, disclosed this at the flag-off ceremony of the National Green School Programme held at the Nigeria Navy Secondary School in Kuje, Abuja. Aduda emphasised that the introduction is the ministry’s dedication to raising awareness about the environment among students. While speaking at the flag-off, he said, “This initiative aligns with Nigeria’s climate objectives and the Sustainable Development Goals.”
