The Bayelsa State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a well-known drug dealer, Chief Emeka Opara, for allegedly supplying illicit substances to students of Niger Delta University (NDU), Amassoma.
Opara, 52, was caught alongside his 25-year-old salesgirl, Chidinma Onuoha, during a raid on his home and shop on Friday, August 1, 2025. The operation led to the seizure of 41,706 capsules of Tramadol and other drugs such as Molly, Diazepam, Codeine, Swinol, and Pentazocine, weighing 29.127 kilograms and worth millions of naira. State Commander, Kanu Chukwuemeka, vowed to intensify the fight against drug abuse and trafficking. He also urged NDU and the Bayelsa State Government to adopt the NDLEA’s Integrity Drug Test to help detect, prevent, and treat drug use among young people.
