The sixth graduation ceremony of the NECA Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Academy, Lagos
The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) and the Industrial Training Fund have partnered to equip Nigerian youths with digital skills in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and 3D animation.
Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, NECA Director, while speaking at the sixth graduation ceremony of the NECA Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Academy in Lagos, emphasised that 75 youths were trained in four digital skills. The organisations teamed up to organise the training under the Technical Skills Development Project (TSDP).
Oyerinde said, “The idea is to take them off the streets and make the community safer for everyone. The more we take them off the street, the safer it becomes, and the more empowered they are, the stronger the economy.”
He emphasised the need for a more effective approach to addressing education and youth empowerment issues, noting that the government should prioritise the adoption of technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
