The Alakijas have transferred the ownership of the Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital to the Osun State University (UNIOSUN).
The handover ceremony took place during a courtesy visit from UNIOSUN’s governing council and management to Apostle (Mrs.) Folorunso Alakija, the chancellor.
Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, the Vice Chancellor of UNIOSUN, applauded the donation, regarding it as a lasting legacy that will benefit future generations.
Addressing the chancellor, Prof. Wale Oladipo, the pro-chancellor, and the chairman of the governing council said, “As a scientist, I can attest that many of the facilities installed in this hospital are rare even in the most sophisticated hospitals across the country. I assure you that this facility will be managed with utmost professionalism and efficiency. It will not be run as a typical government enterprise but maintained with private-sector discipline and accountability.”
Dele Alakija, the Managing Director of Famfa Oil, appreciated the university for its dedication to medical education and healthcare development in the country.
