Nigeria has taken a significant step in technological advancement by launching its first indigenous Artificial Intelligence (AI) software to revolutionise the country’s educational system.
The unveiling took place in Enugu on April 27, 2025, led by Mr. Chibuike Aguene, the Chief Executive Officer of BildUp, the company behind this innovation.
The AI software is designed to provide personalised learning experiences for students by assessing their proficiency levels and adapting to their learning styles.
This approach addresses the longstanding issue of a one-size-fits-all education system, offering tailored solutions that cater to each student’s unique needs.
Mr Aguene spoke on the importance of Nigeria embracing AI technology to avoid being left behind in the global technological race.
He stated that the AI’s capabilities include independent thinking, student assessment, and creating personalised learning solutions, all of which were developed within Nigeria.
Addressing concerns about AI replacing human teachers, Mr. Aguene clarified that the technology is intended to enhance the teaching profession, not replace it.
By automating routine tasks, AI allows teachers to focus more on mentorship and guidance, thereby improving the overall quality of education.
The introduction of this AI software is expected to bridge the gap in access to quality education, especially in regions with limited resources.
It aims to empower every student with a personal tutor who is intelligent, adaptable, and capable of providing support regardless of geographical location.
