Nigerian Researchers Improve Construction With Machine Learning

Two Nigerian researchers in diaspora, Ridwan Taiwo and Adesola Adegoke, have developed a system with machine learning to improve constructive engineering. Their journal, “Construction and Building Materials”, reveals an approach to predict the compressive strength of high-performance concrete (HPC), yielding 94% accuracy.

The system, developed by Taiwo, affiliated with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and ETH Zurich, and Adegoke from Arizona State University, is an advanced prediction solution in the construction industry. Likewise, the system will reduce the construction industry’s carbon footprint, reduce waste, and optimise mixture designs. The researchers have made the prediction tool available online for construction professionals worldwide.
