Nigerian Scientist Blessed Oguh Shines in Laser Research

Blessed Oguh

Blessed Oguh, a young Nigerian doing his Ph.D. at Wayne State University in the United States, is making Nigeria proud with his brilliant work in laser science. His research focuses on how atoms and molecules behave in tiny moments using powerful laser technology.

Oguh, who hails from Imo State, graduated with first-class honours in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Jos. He is now part of a top research group known as the Li Lab. He has designed a low-cost and straightforward system that utilises camera sensors to track the movement of tiny particles when hit by laser light. This clever invention is helping scientists understand how quickly electrons escape during chemical reactions—something experts have struggled with for years. His work could also help improve technologies such as self-driving cars and environmental protection tools.
