A Nigerian teenager, Kenechukwu Oluwafemi Morayo Uba, has made history by emerging as the best student in English Language worldwide in the 2024 International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations conducted by Cambridge.
Kenechukwu, a student of Caleb International College in Lagos, received the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award at a special ceremony held at the Civic Centre on Victoria Island. The award was presented by Louise Hendey, Cambridge’s Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, who described her as “a pride to Nigeria, Africa, and the world.”
The recognition placed her above thousands of students across six continents who sat for the same examination, making her achievement a global inspiration.
Caleb’s director, Dr. Ola Adebogun, explained that Kenechukwu’s success can be attributed to diligence, discipline and Caleb College’s commitment to excellence, quality teaching, and strict academic standards.
Kenechukwu’s win has been hailed as proof that Nigerian students can compete and excel on the world stage.
