NLNG Renovates Schools, Boosts Education in Rivers State

The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) company has deepened its commitment to education and community development with the commissioning of the second phase of its school infrastructure upgrade in Rivers State.

In a statement signed by Sophia Horsfall, General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, NLNG, it was confirmed that the transformation of Model Boys Secondary School, Omoku, and Community Secondary School, Amadi-Ama, in Port Harcourt, is underway. These upgrades are part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, which is grounded in sustainability, stakeholder engagement, partnerships, and shared prosperity.

Executed in collaboration with the Rivers State Ministry of Education, the renovations include the construction of male and female toilet facilities, Youth Corps lodges, the complete refurbishment and equipping of science laboratories, the upgrade of five classrooms (two junior and three senior), four administrative blocks, and a new staff administrative building. Speaking at the event, NLNG’s Managing Director, Philip Mshelbila, who was represented by Yemi Adeyemi, Manager of Community Relations & Sustainable Development, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to investing in future generations.

“Ensuring the education of our young ones may very well be the biggest insurance for the future. This commissioning reflects our commitment to human capital development and long-term community impact,” he said. Mshelbila added that investments in educational infrastructure represent a deliberate effort to improve learning environments and nurture the next generation of leaders, innovators, and professionals. The development marks a strategic milestone in NLNG’s drive to foster sustainable impact in its host communities, with education positioned as a catalyst for broader socio-economic transformation.
