The Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) has awarded over N200 million scholarships to outstanding students across Nigeria.
The scholarships were presented at the 22nd National Mathematics Competition (ANMC), which took place in collaboration with the National Mathematical Centre (NMC).
This year’s competition recognised exceptional students in the primary and junior secondary school categories, rewarding them with tuition discounts, cash prizes, and educational gadgets.
A total of 52 students were recognised for their excellence in mathematics, while over 50 others received scholarships and cash rewards.
In the primary school category, Shedrack Udeh Jr. from Diamond Special School in Imo State won the gold medal. At the same time, Olasehinde Darasimi from Genius Tonic Heights in Ondo State earned the silver medal, and Ifeanyi Einstein from Pleroma International School in Rivers State took the bronze.
The junior secondary category was won by Mamman Jamaladeen Tahir of Air Force Secondary School, Lagos, with over 10,000 participants from more than 30 states competing.
Tahir attributed his success to his late-night study sessions, prayer, and family support: “Sometimes, I stayed up till 1 a.m. to study. I just kept pushing and trusted God.”
Cash prizes ranging from N100,000 to N500,000 were awarded to the winners, with partial and complete scholarships for the top performers. The teachers and schools of these students also received cash rewards and teaching tools ranging from N100,000 to N400,000.
Fevzullah Bilgin, Managing Director of NTIC, stated that this initiative reflects the school’s commitment to supporting national development through education.
He added that NTIC invests over N600 million annually in scholarships and competitions, with N500 million dedicated to full scholarships for over 100 winners and N100 million allocated to fund the nationwide competition.
Prof. Promise Mebine, Director of NMC, commended the partnership between NTIC and NMC, noting that it has raised the standard for mathematics competitions in Nigeria.
ANMC Coordinator Erdal Yilmaz also stated that the competition is crucial in identifying and nurturing academic talent.
The NTIC-ANMC scholarship program continues to allow students to excel academically and contribute to the nation’s growth through knowledge and innovation.
