Ogundoyin Polytechnic Unions Urge Makinde to Appoint Substantive Management

The Joint Action Committee of staff unions at Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, has appealed to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to appoint a substantive management team for the institution after seven years of operating under acting leadership.

The unions, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP), and Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), said repeated efforts and resources had gone into completing the appointment process without result.

In a letter to the governor, the unions noted that the Governing Council had concluded the selection process and recommended qualified candidates for approval since July 27, 2025. They warned that further delay could continue to stall the institution’s progress.

Meanwhile, the unions commended Governor Makinde for his support of the school, including appointing Prof Adebiyi Kazeem to lead recent reforms and releasing additional subventions to ease salary burdens.

They, however, stressed that the prolonged use of acting officers undermines administrative stability and urged the governor to announce the new substantive principal officers without further delay.
