Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has sent 1,750 temporary teachers, called “Imole Youth Corps Teachers,” to both primary and secondary schools in the State. This action is meant to reduce the lack of teachers in schools and help improve the standard of education for students across Osun State.
According to the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the new teachers hold either NCE or university degrees and are already working in various schools. Governor Adeleke said the deployment is a temporary solution while the State prepares for full teacher recruitment, which has been delayed due to financial challenges. He promised that more permanent teachers would be hired once the State’s finances improve. The governor also vowed to raise Osun’s national examination ranking from 7th to the top 3 and praised private school owners for their contributions to education in the State. He added that the government will continue to train teachers and improve school facilities.
