The management of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, has limited movement and religious activities for its students and Polytechnic community, especially at the back gate area of the campus, for security reasons. This was contained in a memo signed by the Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Mary N. Unegbu, on behalf of the Registrar.
She said that the measures were taken for security reasons and revealed that the back gate will now be locked at 6 pm.
She further advised all religious activities on campus on Monday to end before 5:45 to enable students to exit the school premises before 6 pm, as security personnel will be deployed on the said day to maintain law and order on the campus.
She said: “This is to inform the Polytechnic Community, particularly students and all churches operating within the campus, that the back gate will be locked at 6:00 pm on Monday, July 7, 2025, for security purposes. Consequently, all church activities are required to end before 5:45 pm on that day to allow students and other worshipers to exit the campus in an orderly and timely manner before 6:00 pm. Please be informed that security patrols will be intensified across the campus throughout that evening to ensure the maintenance of law and order. All students are hereby requested to comply fully with this directive. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this regard.”
