Rome Business School Nigeria has announced plans to work with the Lagos State Government to offer scholarships worth over N500 million to 200 to 250 residents. The scholarships will be for postgraduate and executive education, and the programme is expected to start in October 2025.
The institution disclosed this fact recently when its Founder and Dean, Prof. Antonio Ragusa, paid a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos.
According to the proposal, which was made known during the visit, the proposed scholarships will include training for Lagos State government officials. There will also be MBA scholarships available for the top-performing civil servants in the state, as well as opportunities for qualified residents of Lagos.
“The school proposes a jointly funded scholarship initiative to sponsor 200–250 Lagos residents, beginning with the October 2025 intake,” Ragusa said.
“The estimated value of this initiative exceeds N500m, directly contributing to the state government’s mission of inclusive growth, economic empowerment, and human capital advancement. In a statement, Mr Olakunle Asunmo, General Manager of Rome Business School Nigeria, said the visit focused on building strategic collaborations to expand access to top-tier executive education and upskill public sector professionals in Lagos. Also present to receive the delegation were the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule; Special Adviser on Legal and Public-Private Partnerships, Mrs Bukola Odoe; and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mr Kasali Waheed. Before visiting the Lagos State Government, Prof. Ragusa had also paid a courtesy call on former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta. Their discussion centred on the role of education in driving Africa’s development. The meeting also highlighted the impact of the Rome Business School Nigeria in providing world-class yet affordable professional education for Africa’s emerging leaders and professionals. In his remarks, Obasanjo commended the institution’s commitment to capacity building and urged continued efforts to expand access to affordable, high-quality education.
