Senator Buhari AbdulFatai has acknowledged the roles of President Bola Tinubu and Education Minister Dr Tunji Alausa in establishing the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO).
The remarks came on Wednesday during a visit to his Abuja office by the university’s management, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Jacob Babayemi. FUNATO officials had commended the Senator for his pivotal role in the university’s creation, but he credited national leaders for the initiative.
“I thank the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, and his father, Professor Gbadesin, the Asiwaju of Okeho, for their contributions that led to the establishment of the University,” Buhari said.
Babayemi presented a letter of gratitude, highlighting Buhari’s “extraordinary efforts” and urging continued support for the university’s growth. The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that the institution, located in Kajola Local Government Area, Oyo State, will commence academic activities this year and aims to be a science-based centre blending agriculture with technology.
Buhari, who chairs the Senate Committee on Aviation and Aerospace, encouraged the university management to maintain focus and uphold global standards, describing their roles as a call to national service.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by key university officials, including the Registrar, Bursar, Librarian, and philanthropist Alhaji Adedeji Adewale.
