Sultan of Sokoto Advocates Collective Action on Girlchild Education

Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has encouraged stakeholders to support the education of girls. He also urged them to strive to restore family values as they fight gender-based violence (GBV) in Nigeria.

The Sultan lauded the Ministry of Education’s AGILE project, describing it as an effort to enhance girls’ education in the country. According to him, implementing strategic solutions remains a challenge in the ministry. He added, “Anybody who tells you that girls should not be educated, especially here in the North, is not telling the truth.”
