The Daramola Dynasty Foundation has donated books, school bags, and a laptop to students of Iyankan High School in Isara Remo, Ogun State.
The foundation’s Operations Manager, Adedoyin Adeeso, stated that the move aimed to encourage reading and enhance learning among children in rural areas.
In a statement on Thursday, Adeeso added that the donation supports the foundation’s goal of promoting quality education, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4.
She said the foundation also rehabilitated the once-abandoned library at the school, with new furniture and educational books replacing the dusty, empty shelves that previously lined the room.
She explained that the transformation is a significant step toward improving the cognitive development of the students.
She added, “Science has proven time and again that a reading culture improves not only academic outcomes but long-term quality of life.
“Readers are better thinkers, better problem solvers, and more confident contributors to society. What we did today reflects our commitment to SDG 4—Quality Education. It is a promise that no child, regardless of where they are born, should be left behind in the pursuit of knowledge.”
Adeeso noted that the foundation’s initiative was part of its broader strategy to empower young people through access to education, skills, and mentorship.
She urged other well-meaning individuals and organisations to support schools in disadvantaged communities, stressing that improving education at the grassroots was key to national development.
During a segment of the programme, students were reported to have participated in interactive literacy sessions, including reading exercises, spelling bees, and motivational talks. Some pupils who distinguished themselves academically were also rewarded with cash prizes.
The Principal of the school, Olufunke Oyenuga, expressed appreciation to the foundation for what she described as transformational support that went beyond physical donations.
Oyenuga stated, “This, for us, went beyond the improvement in facilities.
“It is the kind of support that reminds our students they matter. It gives them wings and shows them they can be anything they choose to be.”
