UniAbuja Seeks Increased Federal Funding to Drive Expansion

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Patricia Manko Lar, has urged the Federal Government to increase funding support for the institution as it pushes forward with key development projects.

She appealed over the weekend during a courtesy visit to the secretary of the Government of the Federation, Dr. George Akume.

She noted that the University was undergoing substantial expansion and required enhanced government backing to sustain its progress.

The Acting VC also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his Renewed Hope Agenda and interventions in the education sector, which she said had made a meaningful contribution to national educational improvement.

Emphasising her vision for the institution, Professor Lar said her leadership was focused on creating a supportive environment for sustainable growth and meaningful reform.

In response, Dr Akume commended her on her new role and urged her to elevate the University’s global standing.

He also reiterated the government’s resolve to advance tertiary education, stressing the importance of visionary leadership and accountability in strengthening Nigeria’s higher education system.
