UNILAG Education Students Encouraged to Dream Bigger at “Oluko Campus Tour”

“Oluko Campus Tour” event that brought together over 200 students in the faculty

The Faculty of Education at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) recently hosted an eye-opening event called the Oluko Campus Tour, designed to help students envision their future as teachers in a new and exciting way. With the theme “Beyond the Degree,” the event was organised by Coach Tosin Aroloye, a passionate educator who wants students to think beyond just obtaining a teaching certificate. She encouraged them to explore other career opportunities and discover new ways to make an impact, both within and outside the classroom.

“This was more than just a school programme. It was a revival. These students need to see themselves as leaders, entrepreneurs, and consultants—not just teachers confined to classrooms,” Aroloye said. The event featured storytelling, skill-sharing sessions, and real-life experiences from speakers who have carved successful paths both within and outside the education system. The speakers demonstrated how education graduates can utilise digital tools, establish robust professional identities, and explore new income streams. Aroloye emphasised that one of the biggest takeaways from the event was the need for a mindset change. “Education students have the power to create impact in many ways,” she said. “They just need the right tools, direction, and belief in themselves.” Students in attendance were energised by the sessions, asking questions, engaging with mentors, and expressing a desire to pursue diverse career paths, many for the first time.
