UNIMED Deploys Campus-Wide Internet to Strengthen Learning and Research

The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo State, has begun installing high-speed internet facilities across its campuses and hostels to improve access to information and enhance academic work.

Public Relations Officer Isaac Oluyi said the initiative, driven by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, forms part of plans to reposition the university as a globally competitive institution. The project is being implemented in partnership with Sam Smith Global Company Limited.

Oluyi explained that the network would provide 24-hour internet service, real-time monitoring, and direct connection to the international internet backbone, while cutting communication and data costs on campus.

Prof. Adejuyigbe said access to quality information “at the speed of light” was crucial for institutional relevance, adding that her administration aimed to make UNIMED “a one-stop institution for medical and health sciences education through the deployment of high-end technology.”
