Three decades after leaving Command Secondary School, Ipaja, the Class of 1995 has returned — not only to celebrate but to invest in the next generation.
At their 30th anniversary reunion, the alumni pledged to sponsor the WAEC and NECO fees of 20 outstanding students in 2026, a move aimed at easing one of the most significant barriers to education for families. The three-day gathering included a mentoring session, “Life After ComLag,” where final-year students were guided by alumni on courage, strategy, and building relationships beyond school. Speakers urged the students to look beyond grades to skills and networks that would shape their futures.
While marking their milestone, the group also upgraded the school’s auditorium with 504 chairs and seven electric fans, and equipped the clinic with a haematology analyser and power supply. Planning committee chair, Gbubemi Atimomo, said the reunion was “a celebration of who we are and who we are becoming”. Alumni president, Alex Ererobe, added: “We do not just gather; we give back.” The reunion ended with a dinner in Victoria Island, rounding off a weekend that mixed nostalgia with a commitment to shaping the school’s future.
