The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) chapter, has warned that academic activities, including the forthcoming resumption and convocation ceremonies, may be disrupted if the state government fails to address lingering issues of poor funding and unpaid salaries.
Speaking in Akure on Sunday, the Chairman of AAUA ASUU, Dr Boluwaji Oshodi, lamented that the institution had suffered neglect for the past seven years due to inadequate financial support from the state government.
He explained that lecturers were owed several months of salary arrears. At the same time, the university continued to struggle with underfunding, poor infrastructure, and a lack of resources to meet academic standards.
Oshodi noted that the union was running out of patience and could no longer guarantee smooth operations at the institution if urgent steps were not taken.
He stressed that ASUU’s position was not just about staff welfare but about safeguarding the future of students and the survival of the university system.
