The Senate, through its Committees on Labour and on Tertiary Institutions and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), has met with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) behind closed doors to discuss the way forward.
Senator Muntari Dandutse, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund, stated that ASUU’s complaints have been noted, and necessary actions will be taken to prevent them from escalating into national issues.
He added that the strike, if not adequately addressed, could further weaken Nigeria’s higher education system, as it has already interrupted students’ academic progress.
The chairman assured that a better solution would be provided to the issues faced by Nigerian universities.
